One of the functions of a library in to provide for an orderly flow of information in society. In order for this to occur, the library must know the location of that information. Having a meaningful system to provide accurate information about all materials belonging to the library includes having such accurate information about all who borrow that material.
A unique form of identification (social security card, school ID, verifiable personal identification from a governmental unit, and/or driver's license) plus two proofs of address that match (your driver's license can be one, a bill, utility deposit, voter registration, or the phone book will meet this need). Children under 14 must be registered by their parents or guardian with required identification for full circulation privileges. Children who wish to use the library without parental registration will be allowed partial privileges (computer use and ability to check out one book at a time) with a report card from school. There are no charges for full registration with required identification. Each registrant will be given the choice of a "card" or a "key tag" with their patron identification number. The initial card is free. The first replacement card is $3.00 and each additional replacement card is $5.00. We reserve the right to charge additional fees for more than three replacement cards.
Those not wishing to validate their name with acceptable identification will be allowed to register with partial privileges (computer use and ability to check out one book at a time) by providing simple identification (credit card and/or utility bill or school report card). If you do not wish to show any identification a small non-refundable fee of $20.00 will be charge for partial privileges (check out one book at a time). A larger non-refundable fee of $100.00 may be made in lieu of proper identification for full privileges.
Registration will be required for all library and computer use. We will give adequate time for children to provide some form of identification.
